Nuyorican Poets Cafe

I stayed in New York last week for the Annual NAACP Convention, and while we were there, we made a pit-stop at the legendary Nuyorican Poets Cafe, where apparently lyrical greats such as Mos Def and Common have performed. I performed my original piece "The Voice of Hip Hop" at the open mic. It's the start of something great! :)

Drake's "Best I Ever Had" video review

You've probably already seen this but Drake's music video for "Best I Ever Had" premiered yesterday I believe with none other than Kanye West directing it! So of course, we all had our expectations held high, right? Well, after watching the  vid, I was slightly disappointed. It seemed to be a bunch of breasts and basketball (but I guess it is meant to appease dudes right?). My friend came up with a possible metaphor for what the video is suppose to represent: supposedly basketball equals relationships.  Drake's team was full of beautiful girls who he expected to win because they were pretty, but they ended up losing to the ugly girls who actually knew how to play the game.  This is a very probable meaning, but I think it gets lost by the average viewer. What do you think of the video?

My first recording..."Shy Guy"

So I was bored today and decided to record one of my original pieces called "Shy Guy." Now, I did this off my Blackberry so it's hella old-school. Don't be expecting any pre-recorded backbeats lol.  Hell, it's damn near prehistoric lol.  I hope yall like it.
